Rohit Sharma all set for another special achievement in Mumbai Indians vs Chennai Super Kings clash

Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings square off in a blockbuster IPL 2021 match at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Saturday. Mumbai Indians, the defending champions, returned to winning ways against Rajasthan Royals. CSK are enjoying a stellar five-match winning run. Mumbai Indians have bounced back after the Chennai leg saw them lose three of their five matches. They will be tough competitors for MS Dhoni’s team who are on top of the table at the moment.

However, this match could prove to be extra special for one individual. He is already on the cusp of creating a new record. When he steps out on the pitch, though, Rohit Sharma will create history.

Rohit will become the first Indian to play 350 T20 matches. A massive feat achieved by the MI skipper when he leads his team out to face the might CSK. After he was bought by MI in 2011 from Deccan Chargers, Rohit slowly rose up the ranks and became one of the most successful captains in the IPL.

Most IPL Trophies – Rohit Sharma is the only cricketer with five IPL trophies under his belt. Rohit, who led MI to their 5th IPL trophy, was also a part of Deccan Chargers title win in the year 2009.

Records galore for Rohit

If captain Rohit Sharma wins the match for Mumbai Indians, it will be his 72nd win as a captain in IPL. This will make him the second most successful captain in the IPL, overtaking Gautam Gambhir (71 wins). Only MS Dhoni won more matches as the captain in IPL (115 matches) He also holds the record for most 6’s hit by an Indian batsman with 300+ to his name. He is also the fastest player to hit 350 International Sixes. In the IPL, Rohit has managed to send the ball out of the park 217 times which is most by an Indian and the second highest in IPL after Chris Gayle.

In a 14-year-long international career, Rohit has attained many feats as a batsman. He had to wait for three long years for his first century. In Champions Trophy 2013, MS Dhoni gave Rohit a chance to open an innings with Shikhar Dhawan. After this, Rohit never looked back and established himself as the ‘HITMAN’ of international cricket.
