During the 2021 edition, eight Indian players played in the WBBL representing different franchises. This year Harmanpreet Kaur got injured and missed out on participating in the league and some of the other senior players like Mandhana pulled out of the tournament due to heavy workload. Two members of the Indian team, Jemimah Rodrigues and Pooja Vastrakar participated in the league, for the Melbourne Stars and Brisbane Heat respectively. Here is a glance at their performance in the tournament so far.

Jemimah Rodrigues

Jemimah Rodrigues made her debut for Melbourne Stars against Perth Scorchers in the 2022 season of the WBBL. Mumbai-born Indian top-order batsman played for Melbourne Renegades Women in the previous season. Jemimah failed in her first outing for the stars, she got out on a duck on her debut and her form seems to be dipping down. In the 7 matches she has played for the Melbourne Stars, the middle-order batter has managed to score only 44 with a poor average of 8.80. She has a top score of 15 which is very low in terms of the standards she usually set. Playing for the Indian women’s cricket team she has scored over 1400 runs in T20ls. She will return to India mid-way through the tournament.

Pooja failed to live up to the expectation of the team and will finish her initial WBBL stint early after being recalled to India to attend player camps ahead of their upcoming domestic and international season.
