The Lahore Qalandars will lock horns with Islamabad United in the 16th match of the PSL 2023 at the Gadaffi Stadium in Lahore. The Qalandars have been one of the strongest teams over the years in the PSL, the Qalandars are also the defending champions and have started this tournament well. They were a part of the tournament opener against the Multan Sultans and emerged victorious by a single run. However, they went on to lose their next game and would want to come back strong in this encounter against an in-form Islamabad Units unit. Lahore Qalandars will be led by the star Pakistan fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi, they also have Haris Rauf in the team alongside the exciting talent Zaman Khan.
Abdullah Shafique, Fakhar Zaman, and Hussain Talat are the Pakistani players in the team, while the overseas unit comprises spin wizard Rashid Khan (he will miss the first half of the season with international duties) Sikandar Raza, David Wiese, Liam Dawson, Jordan Cox, Kusal Mendis, and Sam Billings. On the other hand, Islamabad United have played only 2 games so far in the tournament and ended up on the winning side. The previous season, Islamabad United won just four out of ten games last season and managed to qualify for the playoffs due to a higher net run rate. They defeated the Kings twice last season, and the other two wins came against Peshawar Zalmi and Quetta Gladiators. Rassie van der Dussen has been signed by the United side for this season and has already made a couple of valuable contributions. They have some exciting youngsters as well who will be raring to go out tomorrow. Abrar Ahmed, who had a great Test debut against England last year, is also a part of the squad, it will be interesting to see how effective the mystery bowler will be tomorrow. Hasan Ali was magnificent with the ball and Rahmanullah Gurbaz ensured that there are no stutters while chasing. It was a brilliant team performance. They would want to continue with the good run and get two points from this encounter against the Qalandars.
