Peshawar Zalmi will lock horns with Multan Sultans on the 17th of February at the Multan cricket stadium. Babar Azam was drafted into the Peshawar Zalmi for the 2023 edition of the PSL and he will lead the side as well, Wahab Riaz will be the vice-captain and the team has some exciting players like Tom Kohler Cadmore, Bhanuka Rajapaksa, Rovman Powell, and Mujeeb Ur Rehman are some other international stars to keep an eye on in Zalmi’s camp. Jimmy Neesham and Sherfane Rutherford are their International players who are in form at the moment, both had brilliant seasons with their respective franchises in the SA20 and the ILT20 leagues. It will be interesting to see the combination of this side, Zalmi has been a very consistent team for the past few seasons but hasn’t been able to go all the way to lift the trophy, they will be hoping for a change in fortune this year.

On the other hand, Mohammad Rizwan will lead the Multan Sultans which boasts of some big names like Keiron Pollard, Adil Rashid, Rilee Rossouw, Tim David, Akeal Hosein, David Miller, Josh Little and Wayne Parnell are the overseas recruitments. They lost their season opener by 1 run against the Lahore Qalandar and went on to beat the Quetta Gladiators pretty comprehensively in their second game. Khushdil Shah, Shan Masood and Shahnawaz Dahani are local internationals in the Sultans’ squad. They also have quality young players, such as Usama Mir, Usman Khan, Izharulhaq Naveed and Anwar Ali. Ihsanullah and Sameen Gul were very impressive in the first match and would want to contribute in this match as well.

For Multan Sultans, Riley Rossouw is in prime form, he was brilliant with the bat in the 2nd game and took his team through to victory alongside Rizwan, who has also looked in great touch. Ihsanuallah took 5 wickets and got the man of the match. Multan Sultans are a well-balanced unit who have one of the strongest batting lineups in the tournament. For the Kings, Jimmy Neesham and Bhanuka Rajapaksha need to stand up and contribute with bat in hand. Neesham also need to work a bit on his fielding, he was poor in the previous game. The 5th match of the season promises to be very entertaining and will go down to the wire.
