Melbourne Stars and Perth Scorchers will be facing off in the 12th match of the Big Bash League 2022 at the Junction Oval in Melbourne. This will be the third match in the tournament for the Scorchers. The Scorchers who have won the title four times are the defending champions and won their season opener but went on to lose the next game. With the inclusion of Faf du Plessis, the man in Orange looks like the strongest team in the tournament. Aston Turner hasn’t had the best of the starts to the campaign personally but has led the team well. Perth’s bowling looks formidable and is the reason behind their success over the years.
On the other hand, the Melbourne Stars, have also lost one and won one game so far. The Stars had a painful beginning to their BBL 12 campaign, after losing the first game by just one wicket against the Sydney Thunder. However, they bounced back well, winning their second fixture by a 38-run margin against the Hobart Hurricanes. Joe Clarke scored a magnificent 100 and has looked like a million dollars in the tournament so far. Marcus Stoinis failed in both games and is yet to fire in the tournament. Skipper Adam Zampa has led from the front, Luke Wood, Nathan Coulter-Nile, and Trent Boult have done exceedingly well with the ball in hand. With both teams well matched, this promises to be a mouth-watering affair.
Perth Scorchers look very strong on paper, their bowling attack is one of the strongest in this tournament and with the inclusion of Faf du Plessis, the batting unit looks solid as well. It will be a tight game, but with big names like Glenn Maxwell and Haris Rauf missing from the Stars’ line up, Perth Scorchers will fancy their chances of getting over the line in this encounter.
