The Lankan Premier League 2022 is slated to get underway from July 31. It will mark the third edition of the Lankan Premier League with five teams set to battle out for the top prize. The entire league will be played in Colombo and Hambantota with the final match set to take place on August 21.
There were dark clouds hovering over the start of the tournament due to political unrest in the island nation but the Sri Lanka Cricket has given it a go-ahead after successfully hosting Australia in the limited-overs format. The initial matches of the tournament will be held in Colombo before the league moving to Hambantota.
SLC also confirmed that the registration of the international players for the player draft will commence shortly. In total, 24 matches will be played in the Lankan Premier League 2022. ”We are extremely happy to announce the 3rd edition of the Lanka Premier League, which has started well its journey toward carving a place in the global T20 League competitions, as a formidable tournament,” said Mr. Shammi Silva, President, Sri Lanka Cricket.
