The Indian cricket team announced their squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series vs England. Krunal Pandya and Prasidh Krishna have been included. Prithvi Shaw, who scored over 800 runs and averaged 165 in the Vijay Hazare Trophy was left out. Devdutt Padikkal, the Karnataka opener who scored 737 runs was also not considered. Ishan Kishan, who impressed in the Twenty20 series against England with a fifty on debut, has also been left out.

Suryakumar Yadav, who also hit a fifty on debut, is also in the Indian squad. KL Rahul, who fared poorly in the T20 series against England, is in the squad as a back-up keeper. Jasprit Bumrah, who got married recently to sports presenter Sanjana Ganesan, is also not been selected. Mohammed Shami and Ravindra Jadeja have still not fully recovered from their injuries.

Krishna, Krunal in good form

Krishna once took 13 wickets in seven matches during the 2018/19 Vijay Hazare. In his IPL career, Krishna has played 24 matches and taken 18 wickets at an economy rate of 9.33. Krishna played only six games and took four wickets in IPL 2020. In the recent Vijay Hazare Trophy, Krishna took 13 wickets which included a haul of 4/17 for Karnataka against Bihar.

Prasidh Krishna had an impressive run for Karnataka in the Vijay Hazare Trophy of 2020/21.

On the other hand, Krunal Pandya was the captain of the Baroda team at the start of the Ranji Trophy. However, he had to leave the bio-bubble due to the death of his father. Prior to his departure, Krunal was in excellent form, scoring 127 against Tripura and 133 against Chhattisgarh. In the five matches that he played, he also took five wickets. If selected, Krunal will make his ODI debut as well.

The three-match ODI series will begin from March 23 and end on March 28. It will be played at the MCA stadium in Pune. However, the series will be closely monitored as Maharashtra is experiencing a surge in coronavirus cases. On Thursday, Maharashtra recorded a total of 25,833 cases which is the highest-ever for the state since 2020.
