Sunrisers Hyderabad will be officially eliminated from the playoff race if they lose to Mumbai Indians, who are on a high after wins against Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings.
If one can sum up IPL 2021 for Sunrisers Hyderabad, disaster would be apt. They changed their captain in the middle of the tournament. They have lost six out of seven games in the tournament. One more loss and they will officially be eliminated from the playoff race. The team is distracted. The bowling and batting are inconsistent. Their travails are only going to increase as in front of them, Mumbai Indians are on the ultimate high.
Until the game against Chennai Super Kings, Mumbai Indians were inconsistent. However, the five-time champions needed one game to assert their dominance in the IPL. What better way than to show it against the second-most successful side in the IPL. Mumbai Indians’ tour-de-force performance against Chennai Super Kings showed why they are the best team in the IPL. The depth in batting, with Kieron Pollard now roaring back to form, now looks ominous.
The pitch in Delhi has not been good for the bowlers. Jasprit Bumrah recorded his worst figures in IPL where everyone else has struggled. If Sunrisers Hyderabad need to stay alive, they will have to adapt with the bat in a way the Chennai Super Kings did. However, their bowling will have to revolve around Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Rashid Khan. If Mumbai Indians play out Rashid, then the rest of the bowling lacks penetration.
Mumbai Indians might give James Neesham a slightly long run although he underwhelmed on debut for them. Sunrisers Hyderabad may want to bring Jason Holder back in the side after Mohammad Nabi struggled. The overseas players will hold the key for Kane Williamson’s side. For Mumbai Indians, every player contributes.
Sunrisers Hyderabad: Jonny Bairstow(w), Kane Williamson(c), Manish Pandey, Kedar Jadhav, Vijay Shankar, Abdul Samad, Jason Holder, Rashid Khan, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Sandeep Sharma, Khaleel Ahmed
Mumbai Indians: Rohit Sharma(c), Quinton de Kock(w), Suryakumar Yadav, Kieron Pollard, Hardik Pandya, Krunal Pandya, James Neesham, Rahul Chahar, Dhawal Kulkarni, Jasprit Bumrah, Trent Boult
The weather in Delhi will be slightly cloudy with plenty of humidity. The pitch is expected to be another belter, with the batsman able to play his strokes consistently.
