In an IPL 2021 campaign in which they have not had the best of starts, SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) were hit with yet another setback as the franchise is yet to ascertain the extent of a knee injury to fast bowler T Natarajan. The 29-year-old missed the last two games against the Mumbai Indians and Punjab Kings in the IPL 2021. As per IPL bio-secure bubble rules, new arrivals must quarantine for seven days before joining up with the squad if they test negative for coronavirus.

Natarajan still has not had a scan done on his knee to reveal the extent of his injury. The reason for this is that he would have to leave the bio-secure bubble for the purpose.

Then on his return after recovery, would have to isolate for a further seven days, ultimately delaying his arrival. It would be a problem for the 2016 champions if the injury does not turn out to be as serious.

After SRH’s nine-wicket win over PBKS, skipper David Warner said that Natarajan will go and get a knee scan done at some point. “He obviously has got a sore knee,” Warner said after the match.

“Given the circumstances in these bubbles, if he goes and gets a scan, he obviously has to sit out for seven days; he has to go back into quarantine.

“We are just monitoring at the moment. The physios are doing their best to analyse from a face point of view. But he obviously has to go and have a scan at some point,” he continued.

SRH have had a dismal start to the campaign. They lost their opening three matches before finally managing to earn their first points of the campaign against PBKS. It was a win that was down to a masterful bowling display.

They bundled PBKS for 120 and chased it down with ease and won the game with nine wickets to spare. They currently sit at fifth place on the IPL table.
