Punjab Kings stunned everybody’s expectations by putting on a fabulous display in the game against Royal Challengers Bangalore. KL Rahul roared back to form and once again hurt Virat Kohli’s team. However, it was the performance of Harpreet Brar that stole the show. The young left-arm orthodox spinner took the wickets of AB de Villiers, Glenn Maxwell and Virat Kohli in the space of seven balls. Punjab Kings still struggled in patches, but the youth of Harpreet and Ravi Bishnoi helped them pull through.

At the other end, Delhi Capitals are high on confidence after beating Kolkata Knight Riders in a dominant display. Axar Patel and Prithvi Shaw were the stars, with Shaw putting on a magnificent display. Shaw’s 82 off 41 balls is the continuation of the good form that he has been under ever since the Vijay Hazare Trophy.

This contest will have a different dimension. Punjab Kings are now in the play-off race and they would be wanting to sustain the momentum. It is at this time that Punjab Kings are their most dangerous. With their backs against the wall, they would be wanting to put up a superb show. But, Delhi Capitals now have the habit of winning on a consistent basis. Slowly but surely, Delhi Capitals are fixing upon a steady combination that will help them a lot in IPL 2021.

Team News

Harpreet Brar was a superb pick in hindsight for Punjab Kings. Mayank Agarwal was not fit for the previous game and Punjab Kings would be hoping to get him back. With Nicholas Pooran now having four ducks in six games, it would be great if Dawid Malan comes into the picture. Malan’s addition could result in players like Deepak Hooda and Mohammad Shahrukh Khan go for their strokes. If Arshdeep Singh can replace Chris Jordan, then Punjab Kings might still be in good stead. Riley Meredith suffered an injury and one does not know what his status will be.

Delhi Capitals will be aiming to make few changes. With the entry of Axar Patel, Delhi Capitals have balance and depth. Rishabh Pant’s side missed Amit Mishra’s services due to injury and that might mean Lalit Yadav gets an extended run
