Match 22 of the IPL 2021 will see Delhi Capitals (DC) take on Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).  RCB were subjected to a hefty defeat at the hands of three-time champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Saturday. That brought an end to their undefeated run. Virat Kohli’s men dropped to third place following the loss and DC’s win over SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH). Rishabh Pant’s men won the edition’s first super over after what was an enthralling 40 overs of cricket.

Both sides are looking to seal their place in the IPL 2021 top four. However, given both sides’ recent run of form, the match promises to be a nail-biting affair. Here are the predicted starting lineups for both sides.

DELHI CAPITALS

Prithvi Shaw: The opener played a fantastic knock against SRH as he scored 53 runs off 39 deliveries. That set the stage for the Capitals to power on to a defendable total at the Chepauk stadium.

Shikhar Dhawan: Shikhar has been in the form of his life even since IPL 2021 commenced. He is one of the top contenders for the Orange Cap and is has not yet displayed an under-par performance.

Rishabh Pant (Captain, WK): The DC skipper has been relishing his role. He has led his side to multiple victories this season, and is proving to be worthy of a captain. Pant scored 37 runs off 27 deliveries against SRH.

Steve Smith: The Aussie seems to be finding his form ever since he played his first IPL game this season. The signs indicate that Smith will only get better. He scored an impressive 34 off 25 deliveries against SRH.

Shimron Hetmyer: The West Indian is one of the most explosive batters in world cricket and also a top-quality fielder. Playing an explosive knock down the order to ensure that his team reaches a big total will be his responsibility.

Marcus Stoinis: The Aussie all-rounder is also an important part of Pant’s arsenal. Stoinis has proven to be one of the best all-rounders in the world at the moment. DC would be reliant on him in all departments.

Axar Patel: Axar Patel is back after a recovery from Covid-19 and hasn’t lost a step. He picked two wickets for 26 runs against SRH, and also bowled an economical super over.

Ravichandran Ashwin: The veteran off-spinner might not have picked a wicket against SRH. However he was very economical, giving away only 27 runs in his four overs.

Amit Mishra: Mishra impressed yet again with the ball against SRH as he managed to pick one wicket for 31 runs in his four overs.

Kagiso Rabada: The South African pacer had a rare off day. He picked up no wickets and gave away 25 runs in his three overs. DC, however, would still be heavily reliant on his abilities and looking to him for crucial breakthroughs.

Avesh Khan: Another day, another masterful performance. Avesh impressed yet again, picking up three wickets for 34 runs in his four overs against SRH.

ROYAL CHALLENGERS BANGALORE

Virat Kohli (Captain): The RCB skipper is in a good run of form so far in IPL 2021. He will look to make most of the opportunity against DC to help his team win.

Devdutt Padikkal: Arguably the only bright spot in an otherwise gloomy day against CSK. The young opener carried on his good run of form as he scored 34 runs off 15 deliveries.

Washington Sundar: The all-rounder did not have a match to remember as he was neither that effective with bat or ball. He will be eager to improve his form in the match against DC.

Glenn Maxwell: ‘The Big Show’ is proving why RCB paid the big bucks for him. He had a decent performance with the bat as he scored 22 runs off 15 deliveries against the Super Kings.

AB de Villiers (WK): The South African has already shown this season that he can be a match-winner for the Challengers. Previous performances also suggest that the game against CSK might be a minor aberration and he will soon be back to his explosive best.

Dan Christian: The Aussie also did not have the best nights of his career against CSK. However, he is a skilled and experienced cricketer and will look to get back to his best against DC.

Shahbaz Ahmed: Following the departure of Kyle Jamieson for personal reasons, captain Virat Kohli might turn to Shahbaz Ahmed to fill the game in the starting lineup. Ahmed has shown this season that he can be effective with the bowl.

Daniel Sams: The Aussie all-rounder might be chosen in the starting lineup over Navdeep Saini as Kohli might want to strengthen his batting after the collapse against CSK.

Mohammed Siraj: Siraj might not have picked up a wicket against CSK, but he has proven that he can be effective for Kohli and RCB would be reliant on his wicket-taking ability to win matches.

Harshal Patel: Apart from that freak last over against CSK, Harshal Patel had an exceptional game as he picked up three wickets in his four overs.

Yuzvendra Chahal: Chahal was also among the wickets against CSK. He got one wicket and conceded 24 runs in his three overs.
