Match 13 of the 2021 Indian Premier League (IPL) will see two of the title favourites battle it out at the Chepauk Stadium in Chennai, as the Delhi Capitals (DC) take on Mumbai Indians (MI) on Tuesday. DC currently sit second in the IPL league standings after winning two out of three games while MI are at third, level on points but behind on net run rate. Both teams won their previous encounters as DC managed to chase 196 against the Punjab Kings (PBKS) and MI successfully defended 150 against the SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH). Both teams seem to have found a winning formula with their starting lineups, and it seems unlikely that either will change given their current run of form.

Here are the predicted lineups for both teams.

DELHI CAPITALS

Shikhar Dhawan: Shikhar’s form since the beginning of the tournament this year has been exceptional. He scored a massive 92 off 49 deliveries against PBKS and is currently the orange cap holder.

Prithvi Shaw: An effective opening partner to Dhawan, Prithvi gave DC an explosive start in the previous game while chasing a mammoth total. He scored 32 off 17 deliveries.

Steve Smith: The Aussie played his first game for the Capitals against PBKS. Despite failing to impress with the bat, his quality as one of the top batters in the world is unrivalled and he will look to hit that kind of form soon.

Rishabh Pant (Captain, WK): As a young captain, Pant really seems to be coming into his own with DC. His explosive batting and proactive wicketkeeping make him an asset for the side.

Marcus Stoinis: The Australian all-rounder effectively won the game for DC against PBKS in the final stages of the match, after scoring 27 off just 13 deliveries.

Lalit Yadav: Yadav also played a short but sweet cameo of 12 runs from six deliveries so see DC win maximum points against PBKS.

Chris Woakes: Woakes might have proven to be expensive against PBKS, but he is an experienced bowler who can be relied upon to break long batting spells and turn the game around. He took one wicket against PBKS as well.

Lukman Meriwala: Meriwala took the crucial wicket of Mayank Agarwal, who seemed to be in seething hot form, in the match against PBKS. He, therefore, broke the 122-run partnership between Mayank and KL Rahul and will look to do more of the same.

Ravichandran Ashwin: The veteran spinner was the most economical of the DC bowlers against PBKS. He did not pick a wicket but only gave away 28 runs in his four overs.

Kagiso Rabada: DC’s ace fast bowler also went for runs against PBKS, but he is still one of the best pacers in the tournament right now. Rabada picked up the all-important wicket of PBKS skipper KL Rahul in the last game.

Avesh Khan: The young pacer has impressed Rishabh Pant and the DC coaches since the beginning of the tournament, and will be eager to keep up the good work against the defending champions.

MUMBAI INDIANS

Quinton de Kock (WK): The South African wicket-keeper played an outstanding knock of 40 from 39 deliveries in the match against SRH, and is also one of the best people to have behind the stumps.

Rohit Sharma (Captain): Rohit’s experience and quality will be key to quell DC’s quality bowling attack. The MI skipper scored 32 off 25 deliveries against SRH.

Suryakumar Yadav: After a disappointing performance in the last game, the unorthodox MI batter will be looking to get amongst the runs against the Capitals.

Ishan Kishan: The youngster struggled to play on the Chepauk track last time around, scoring only 12 from 21 deliveries. However, he is a quality player and an important part of the MI squad.

Kieron Pollard: The big West Indian all-rounder showed his class yet again when he smashed an explosive cameo of 35 from just 22 deliveries to take MI to a defendable total.

Hardik Pandya: Hardik is probably MI’s most destructive batter and an exceptional fielder. His form with the bat will be crucial for skipper Rohit Sharma.

Krunal Pandya: Despite not shining with the bat, Krunal took the crucial wicket of Jonny Bairstow who seemed to be in a rich vein of form in the previous game. Like his brother, he too is a crucial part of the MI family.

Adam Milne: Despite not being a standout performer in the match against SRH, Milne will probably be given another chance to showcase his skills and he would be willing to impress this time around.

Trent Boult: The Kiwi pacer was on fire against the SunRisers, picking up three wickets for 28 runs and effectively winning the game for the defending champions.

Jasprit Bumrah: Bumrah was at the top of his game yet again. He picked one wicket and gave away only 14 runs in his four overs.

Rahul Chahar: After a slow start to the campaign, Rahul Chahar really came into his own as he picked three wickets against SRH for just 19 runs.
