Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians squared off in the final of IPL 2020, with Rohit Sharma’s side winning the tournament for a record fifth time.
It is the repeat clash of the two teams who had reached the summit in IPL 2020. Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals faced off in the final and Rohit Sharma’s side won the tournament for the fifth time. For Delhi Capitals, they had broken new ground but it ended in heartbreak. Now, in IPL 2021, both teams face each other on slightly equal terms. Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians have won two out of their three games that they have played.
However, Mumbai Indians have a slight advantage heading into the match against Delhi Capitals. The match will be at the MA Chidambaram stadium and this is the first time Delhi Capitals will be playing at the venue. At the Wankhede, their batsmen enjoyed. Although they were undone by swing in one match, their batsmen stepped up to the party on two occasions. That will not be the case in Chennai.
Mumbai Indians have managed to hold their own at Chepauk, with the exception of the first game. The spinners, Rahul Chahar in particular, have been superb in the last two games. Krunal Pandya has kept the runs down and also taken wickets at crucial intervals. Add the death bowling brilliance of Trent Boult and Jasprit Bumrah and Mumbai Indians’ bowling line-up is potent. The batting has been solid. The fielding has been top notch. Once again, the question remains. Is there any weakness in the Mumbai Indians line-up?
With Axar Patel still not fit and the likes of Kagiso Rabada still rusty after quarantine, Delhi Capitals have some team composition issues. The fourth overseas player is proving to be a conundrum, with Steve Smith coming into the game against Punjab Kings. Delhi Capitals handed a debut to Lukman Meriwala, indicating that they want to experiment at the beginning.
On the other hand, Mumbai Indians are solid and might go unchanged, with possibly Marco Jansen coming back to replace Adam Milne.

The pitch in Chennai, especially in the evening games, will be sluggish and batting at the fag end will be difficult. The weather in Chennai will be hot, with a maximum of 33 degrees and a minimum of 27 degrees. The humidity will be 65 percent.
Before IPL 2020, Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals had an even record of 12-12. However, with Mumbai Indians winning all four games, they now have a 16-12 advantage. This is the fourth most number of wins against one opponent, behind Kolkata Knight Riders, Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore.
