Jason Holder and Shahbaz Nadeem were handed an opportunity in the SRH lineup, replacing Mohammad Nabi and Sandeep Sharma.
SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) batsman Kane Williamson is considered one of the best in the shortest format of the game. However, Williamson who is a fan-favourite and rated quite highly by experts as well as the masses continues to remain sidelined. The 30-year-old has not been selected in the lineup for the Hyderabad-based franchise’s second league encounter of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). Fans have expressed their frustration following Williamson’s absence from the playing 11 on social media platform Twitter.
“the amount of matches he has won for SRH- and it’s still the same story every season. kane williamson can just NEVER find a place in the starting 11! it takes them losing a few to finally get williamson in – and repeat this every season! on a loop!,” read the reaction from a fan.

SRH don’t deserve Kane Williamson. That man is not for strengthening the bench, pathetic management. Transfer him to CSK. He will be the perfect replacement of Ms Dhoni IMO. #SRHvsRCB #MSDhoni

Williamson was expected to start in SRH’s first match of the ongoing campaign against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). However, fans were left bewildered when the Kiwi was left out. SRH lost the game against KKR, mostly owing to a batting collapse, with the lack of solidity in the middle order emerging as an area of concern.
Williamson’s inclusion for the match against RCB, could have provided some relief. SRH coach Trevor Bayliss has termed lack of match fitness, as the prime reason being the New Zealand batsman being sidelined.
