Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings played out the ultimate classic in New Delhi in IPL 2021 as Kieron Pollard blasted 87 off 34 balls to give the five-time champions a four-wicket win.

The 27th match of IPL 2021 witnessed a classic for the ages. Mumbai Indians took on Chennai Super Kings in New Delhi. Ambati Rayudu blasted 72 off 27 balls and he was well supported by Moeen Ali and Faf du Plessis who hit fifties. Chennai Super Kings posted a remarkable 218/4. Mumbai Indians seemed to be down and out when they needed 125 off 48 balls. However, Kieron Pollard decided to change the entire course of the match with a blazing knock. His calculated assault put Chennai Super Kings on the backfoot and ensured Mumbai Indians were on course for a win.

Pollard was severe on the Chennai Super Kings bowlers in the middle overs. He blasted 75 runs in four overs and notched up a fifty off just 17 balls, which is the fastest in IPL 2021. Pollard was helped by a dropped catch from Faf du Plessis and he went on to hammer 16 runs in the final over. Pollard’s 87 off 34 balls ensured Mumbai Indians had achieved their highest successful chase in the history of the IPL.
