Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) coach Mike Hesson expressed his belief that the run-out of Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell proved to be the turning point in the Bangalore-based franchise’s defeat against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Wednesday. The two sides were battling it out in an Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 encounter, which the Virat Kohli-led franchise needed to win in order to stand in good stead for a finish in the top two spots of the points table.

“Glenn was the only batsman who got any fluency on that surface and he was set, so he was probably the man we wanted at the crease so, it probably was. It bounced up nicely for the fielder and then an exceptional piece of work for the run out. Probably turned the game but, we just left a little bit too much to do at the end. We weren’t quite good enough in those key moments to get over the line,” said Hesson in an interaction with the media after the match.

“We felt that the powerplay was probably the easiest time to score. So we gave Dan Christian a bit of a license in the last couple of games – just to go out, try and attack and get us ahead of the game. Obviously, it hasn’t worked on either occasion,” added the RCB coach.

The Bangalore-based franchise will be seen taking on Delhi Capitals (DC) in their next IPL 2021 encounter.

“We cannot take our foot off the pedal,” says Delhi Capitals’ fast bowler Kagiso Rabada

DC fast bowler Kagiso Rabada has stated that his franchise will certainly not take their foot off the pedal even though they have confirmed a top-two finish.

“It’s been a great season. We’ve given ourselves another chance to play for a spot in the final, so we are thrilled by that. Even though the match against Royal Challengers Bangalore doesn’t hold a lot of significance for us we should not take our foot off the pedal. We should just keep playing the way we have been playing,” said the South African in an interaction with the Delhi-based franchise’s official website.

“Our loss against RCB in the first half of the tournament is definitely a thing of the past. However, we know how threatening they can be. They have some really destructive batters and Harshal Patel has been doing extremely well. We need to believe in our strengths. The result in our last match against RCB is a thing of the past, but we still need to learn from that result. We’ve done really great work so far. We have earned the right to be in this position and we have been in this position before, which helps. We are going to give it our all in the upcoming matches and look to play our best cricket in the business end of the tournament,” added Rabada.

The South African recently helped DC pull off a triumph against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), taking the team home through a boundary.

“It wasn’t the most ideal situation, but I backed myself to put the team in a winning position when we needed 2 runs from 3 balls, by at least getting Hetmyer on strike. I tried to watch the ball and anticipate where Bravo was going to bowl. I just wanted to get bat on ball and that worked for us.”
