Delhi Capitals (DC) will face Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in match 22 of the 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The Capitals are coming off a victory in what was a nail-biting match that went all the way to the super over against the SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH). DC leapfrogged RCB after their impressive win to claim the second position on the points table. The Challengers, on the other hand, were subjected to a rather humiliating defeat at the hands of arch-rivals Chennai Super Kings (CSK). A colossal batting order collapse saw Virat Kohli’s men lose by a massive margin of 69 loss, in what was their first defeat of the season so far.

Despite the two contradicting results, both teams have several match-winners who have what it takes to completely turn a game around. Individual battles between the likes of such players would be potentially blockbuster.

Here are the five key player battles to look out for in DC vs RCB.

SHIKHAR DHAWAN VS HARSHAL PATEL

Both Shikhar and Harshal are in a rich vein of form in IPL 2021 and they are contenders for the orange cap and the purple cap respectively. It would be interesting to see how the veteran batter handles a young and talented bowler who is in good form.

PRITHVI SHAW VS MOHAMMED SIRAJ

The two are not new to the dance but they are not veterans yet either. Both Prithvi and Siraj will perform to the best of their abilities in the tournament to earn a spot in the national side ahead of the T20 world cup. Their battle could turn out to be interesting.

KAGISO RABADA VS VIRAT KOHLI

Arguably, the two premier cricketers of either side. Rabada and Kohli are both world-class and have tons of experience, both in the IPL and in international cricket. The two undoubtedly have a tight battle.

AVESH KHAN VS DEVDUTT PADIKKAL

Both youngsters have been in fine form this season and both will be looking to keep their momentum going. Padikkal and Avesh are potential Indian stars and it would be interesting to see how the two handle each other.

AXAR PATEL  VS AB DE VILLIERS

The DC all-rounder made a resounding return to IPL cricket after being out of action from the first few weeks of this year’s edition due to COVID-19 as he picked up two wickets against DC and also bowled a successful super over. De Villiers, as is no secret, is one of the best T20 players in the world. The two would lock horns in what could potentially be an exciting encounter.
