India vs South Africa: Naveen Patnaik buys the first ticket for the second game at Barabati

On Monday, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik bought the first ticket for the India vs South Africa T20I match, which will take place at Barabati Stadium in Cuttack on June 12.

On Monday, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has bought the first ticket for the India vs South Africa T20I match, which will take place at Barabati Stadium in Cuttack on June 12. A CMO official has shared the news as well. However, Pankaj Lochan Mohanty, the president of Odisha Cricket Association (OCA), and Sanjay Behera, the secretary of OCA, handed over the ticket to the Chief Minister at his residence, Naveen Niwas, he again shared. The official again stated that they have arranged for the smooth sale of tickets for the upcoming game as well.

However, the five-match T20I International series will begin in Delhi on June 9, followed by the match at Barabati as well. Meanwhile, the third, fourth and fifth matches will be played at Visakhapatnam, Rajkot and Bengaluru respectively as well. Notably, this will be the second time that they meet at Barabati where South Africa had beaten India by 6 wickets way back in 2015. Under the former captain MS Dhoni, Team India were bowled out for 92, and the then Proteas led by then skipper Faf du Plessis chased down the score with 17 balls in hand. India, however, won at the venue by beating Sri Lanka by 93 runs in 2017 as well.

This time, Team India will be led by KL Rahul as they have rested the players like Virat Kohli, regular captain Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami for the series. However, the team will feature the new faces like Umran Malik and Arshdeep Singh, who have received their maiden call-ups after doing exceptionally well in the recently-concluded Indian Premier League, Moreover, they have their star all-rounder Hardik Pandya and wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik. Both of them have returned to the squad after a long time.
