India vs England: Player allowed to travel with families as UK government gives clearance

The Board of Cricket Control of India (BCCI) & England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB) got clearances from UK Government on Monday.

Ahead of the India vs England series, the UK government gave clearance to players for travelling with their family. The Board of Cricket Control of India (BCCI) & England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB) got clearances from UK Government on Monday. When Virat Kohli & Mithali Raj’s team board charter flight, their families will accompany the. The familes will be expected to follow the same set of quarantine norms.

Currently, both squads are in Mumbai and under mandatory quarantine for two weeks. Even the families of the various squad members are quarantining with them in the Bio-Bubble.

The team has an extensive plan to travel to London on June 2nd and will proceed to Southampton. According to come reports, the team will have to in hard quarantine for three days before being allowed to train. The women squad will then move to Bristol for their training. But the men’s squad will be in the same facility for the World Test Championship beginning June 18th.

“As per the bio-safety protocols established for the event, in line with UK government and Public Health England requirements, the Indian Men’s team will arrive in the UK on 3 June 2021 via a charter flight and carrying evidence of a negative PCR Test,” the ICC said in a media release.

The BCCI also shared a clip on social media. Virat Kohli, Cheteshwar Pujara, Jasprit Bumrah, Ajinkya Rahane, R Jadeja among others were seen in a training session.

“Looking at our team, Nick Webber and I both feel that we have benefitted with the gap we got for the boys to take rest,” Soham Desai, Strength and Conditioning Coach, said in the full video posted on the BCCI’s website.

“They have had a long year right from the last IPL to this, we have taken 3 weeks to take them through training which is not possible during the season.

“What we did was ask them to take rest at their homes, take some time off and relax. Then slowly, we started developing them towards what they need to do and where we feel that they are not able to workout during the season.

“We were fortunate enough to give them the right amount of weights in their rooms to help them address the issues. From the seventh day, they started individual training in the gym. We have ticked many boxes and we are in the right space. We are ready to fly to the UK now,” he added.
