The coronavirus pandemic is causing havoc in India. In the last three days, India has seen a daily caseload of over 2,50,000 cases. On Tuesday, India reported close to 2,75,000 cases which is the highest single-day surge ever since the pandemic. India has topped the number of cases and deaths in the last week when it comes to the coronavirus pandemic. This has promoted many countries to issue a travel ban. New Zealand has issued a travel ban to India until April 28. The United Kingdom has also put India on a ‘red list’. Travel from the country is banned. Any UK resident arriving from India will have to undergo a mandatory 10-day hotel quarantine.

The ‘red list’ by the United Kingdom has put a slight question mark on two series. The India women’s cricket team is touring England for a one-off Test, three ODIs and three T20Is. More importantly, India will take on New Zealand in the final of the ICC World Test Championship in Southampton.

However, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has said that the World Test Championship final will be held without problems. Southampton is the venue that hosted international cricket during the coronavirus pandemic.

In a statement, the ICC said, “The ECB and other members have demonstrated how we can stage international cricket safely in the middle of a pandemic and we are confident that we can continue to do that and that the WTC Final will go ahead as planned in June in the UK. We are currently discussing with the UK Government the impact of countries being on the ‘red list’.”

India sealed their spot in the final of the ICC World Test Championship after winning series against Australia away and England at home. New Zealand were the first team to seal the final spot after a home season which saw them not losing a single series.
