The stage is set in Motera, Ahmedabad for the world cricket’s biggest prize i.e. the ICC World Cup 2023 Finals. Team India will square off against five-time champions Australia in the finals. For many Indians sitting back home and glued to their television sets, it will be a redemption time for the 2003 World Cup Finals. However, there is a lot at stake for both teams especially for Team India who are in their form life. Naturally, after the analysis of the situation here is a short SWOT analysis of Team India:

Team India’s Strength

The biggest pillar of strength of Team India has been the phenomenal batting display at the top of the innings. This has been possible due to the blistering form of Indian skipper Rohit Sharma. Rohit is providing aggressive starts with the bat, scoring 550 runs thus far. Moreover, his intelligent captaincy, as well as bowler rotation, has resulted in India being the only unbeaten team in the league. On the other hand, Virat Kohli is in the form of his life and currently tops the batting charts with a whopping 711 runs to his name. Other batsmen who have contributed to India’s dominance with the bat include Shubhman Gill (346 runs), Shreyas Iyer (526 runs) and KL Rahul (386 runs).

Likewise, Team India has been an unstoppable force with the ball as well. Mohammad Shami demolished rival batters and led the wicket-taker’s table with 23 scalps. Shami has been well supported by Jasprit Bumrah (18), Ravindra Jadeja (16), Kuldeep Yadav (15), and Mohammad Siraj (13).

Team India’s Weakness

However, there are several pockets which Aussies can exploit to tumble down India’s faultless campaign. After the injury of Hardik Pandya, India has been bereft of an additional all-rounder and has used 5 bowlers so far. Virat, Gill, Surya and Rohit all got some bowling practice against the Netherlands. However, it is one thing to bowl against the Dutch and another thing to bowl against the five-time champions Australia. If one of the bowlers starts leaking runs, Team India doesn’t have many options to stop the run flow.

Furthermore, with Australia’s bowling team at peak form, the batting lineup will have to be wary of them. India was reduced to 2/3 in the tournament opener in Chennai when Kohli and Rahul pulled the team out. They must be cautious of a slip-up situation like this in the final.

Team India’s biggest Opportunity

It’s not every day that you play in the finals of the ICC World Cup. Naturally, it will be a very big opportunity for all the 11 players out there who will take the field in Ahmedabad. Added to that, it might turn out to be the last World Cup for many players like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma who have been long servants of Indian cricket. Moreover, if Rohit wins the 2023 World Cup title, he will complete a wonderful redemption arc after missing out on being a member of the World Cup-winning squad in 2011.

Team India’s biggest Threat

This is not the Australian team that India faced in the tournament opener in Chennai. Australia appeared less relaxed at the moment and was unable to keep Kohli and Rahul in check with the ball after the early stage. The Australia they will face in the final are on an eight-match unbeaten streak. Moreover, they have transformed into a different beast in the knockouts. The semifinal win against the Proteas is a testimony to it. Because Australia is a brutal force once again, India must be on their toes in the final, or else the wait for the trophy will be extended.
