Veteran Australia player Usman Khawaja was happy after scoring a stylish 137 on his return to Test cricket after 2 years to help Australia post a huge total before the declaration. They scored 416 for eight against England on a rain-hit Day 2 in the ongoing fourth Ashes Test as well. However, Usman recalled his journey while stating that he’s living the ‘Australian dream.’ The Australian batsman also opened up on his stunning century, saying that he was overwhelmed by the response of the spectators he got.

“It was probably the most touching, humbling, and amazing feeling after getting that hundred. Everyone (in the crowd) went up and there were chants of Uzi as I was coming off the field. I never expected it to happen,” Khawaja said at the press conference. “It usually happens to bowlers, batters don’t usually get that kind of treatment. So, to have that was unbelievable.”

“I joke around the boys about my past and where I have come from. We talk about the American dream. I call this the Australian team. I joke about it but I am very serious. I am living the Australian dream. My parents came here from Pakistan to give me a better life. Now, I am representing Australia in our national sport, something which I have loved doing,” again said Usman Khawaja.

Meanwhile, his celebration was quite elegant as he showed a rendition of the “Silencer” moves made famous by NBA star Lebron James and the crowd too got excited seeing him scoring tons. However, there is no surety whether he will be available for the next Ashes Test as Head will be available as well.

“I have gone a lot through hard times, broke down many barriers to get to where I am right now. I think, at some level, people can relate to that. The love which I have got here today is something special, something I will never forget,” he further added.

“I knew it was one game for the series. Heady’s going to be back next game, he’s going to be fit. I’m replacing him,” Usman Khwaja concluded.

However, England are desperate to put up a good show in Sydney after suffering heavy losses in Brisbane, Adelaide and Melbourne to go 3-0 down in the five-match Ashes series as well.
