The action-filled two days of the IPL 2022 mega auction has ended on a high note. While all the expected players got their teams, it was “Mr. IPL”, Suresh Raina, who was unsold. And, fans were extremely disappointed after he went unsold at the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 auction in Bengaluru.
However, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) has released him ahead of the mega auction and he registered his name at a base price of ₹2 crores as well. He went unsold on Day 1 of the auction on Saturday whereas, on Day 2, his name did not feature for the accelerated auction rounds.
And, after that, a lot of Suresh Raina and CSK fans expressed their displeasure on Twitter after he went unsold. Some slammed the Chennai franchise for not recognizing his contribution to the team. And, his contribution can’t be denied as well. Suresh Raina was part of the CSK squad that won the IPL trophy in the UAE last year. However, he had a poor show, managing only 160 runs in 12 matches at an average of 17.77 and a strike rate of 125 as well.

However, Suresh Raina made his IPL debut in 2008, and apart from the two years when CSK was suspended, he was inseparable from the franchise along with MS Dhoni. He has featured in 205 IPL games and has scored 5528 runs which came at an average of 32.51 and a strike rate of 136.76, with one hundred and 39 fifties as well.
