England Women will play against South Africa Women in the 2nd Semi-final of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2023 at Newlands in Cape Town on Friday, February 24. South Africa is the host of the mega event where the event begins on February 10th with a match between South Africa and Sri Lanka. However, Australia are the defending champion where the final Women’s T20 World Cup match was played in early 2020 at the MCG to watch the hosts Australia beat India by 85 runs. A record number of 86,174 spectators were present there as well.
Meanwhile, South Africa has recently hosted the inaugural Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup where India registered a convincing win as well. However, most of the games, including both semifinals and the final game, will take place in Newlands as well. While five matches will be played at St George’s Park in Gqeberha over the course of seven days, a few games will take place at Boland Park in Paarl as well. While Australia are the firm favourite, other teams will give a tough fight too and they have already shown their potential in the tournament.
“Oh, that’s great then. There’s no pressure on us then. We can just go out and enjoy and play freely, enjoy the moment and try and do our best.” – South Africa captain Sune Luus said on what she would say to people who believe South Africa have no chance of winning the T20 World Cup this year. “The pressure is all on South Africa. It’s a home World Cup for them.” – England opener Danni Wyatt doesn’t agree with Luus as well.
Star Network will telecast the warm-up matches of the mega event in India. The live streaming of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup warm-up matches will be available on the Disney+ Hotstar app and website as well.
