England is all set to play Ireland for a single test against Ireland before the much awaited Ashes. The Lords, London will be hosting this match which will be a good practice match before the big battle against Australia. Ireland are coming into the series on the ball of a series loss against Sri Lanka 2-0. Before this series, they played a one-off Test against Bangladesh in their home and lost that one as well. The side will be led by Andy Balbernie. Paul Stirling and Josh Little will miss this match. Craig Young Graham Hume and Mark Adair will be the key bowlers for Ireland. George Dockrell and Andy McBrine will do the spin duties.
England named a 16-man squad for the Ireland Test ahead of the 2023 Ashes. Ben Stokes will be leading the side but will not bowl in this match. Ollie Pope has been named as the vice captain of the team. Yorkshire swashbuckling batter, Jonny Bairstow is back into the side and will taking the wicket keeping duties. Chris Woakes has been added to the squad but it will be interesting to see if he makes it to the playing XI for this fixture. Ben Duckett, Zak Crawley will be the openers followed by Ollie Pope and Joe Root. Stuart Broad will be leading the pack alongside debutant Josh Tongue and Matthew Potts. Jack Leach is the only spinner.

The surface at the Lord’s Cricket Ground has traditionally been balanced with batters and bowlers getting equal purchase. The ball might do a little bit for the fast bowlers in the initial stages of the match, but it will get easier to bat as the match progresses. The team winning the toss would be inclined to bat first at this venue.
