Root, Brook, Stokes contribute invaluable knocks
Joe Root, Harry Brook, and Ben Stokes significantly contributed to the team’s score. Root scored 46 runs off 55 balls, including five fours and a six. However, he couldn’t build a substantial innings. In the middle order, Brook and captain Stokes also played well, scoring 46 and 43 runs respectively, helping the team reach a total of over 200. Lyon, Cummins’ four-fer restricts England to 281
Veteran spinner Nathan Lyon and Pat Cummins performed exceptionally, taking eight wickets to restrict England. Lyon took four wickets for 80 runs in 24 overs, while Cummins also claimed four wickets, conceding 63 runs in 18.2 overs. As a result, England‘s third innings concluded at 273 runs. England batter struggled against the canny off-spinner.
Broad strikes twice despite Australia’s commanding start
Despite a strong start by Australia’s opening pair, David Warner and Usman Khawaja, England’s Ollie Robinson managed to dismiss Warner after he scored 36 runs off 57 balls, including four fours. Stuart Broad made a crucial impact by taking two prized wickets, dismissing Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne for six and 13 runs respectively. Australia ended Day 4 with a total of 107 runs.
