England beat Pakistan in a last over thriller to win the 3rd T20 international at Old Trafford and clinch the series 2-1 on Tuesday. Pakistan who won the toss and elected to bat posted a challenging target of 155 on a turning wicket courtesy of opener Mohammad Rizwan’s unbeaten knock of 76 from 57 balls. In response to it, the home team got off to a flying start led by opener Jason Roy before stumbling in the middle of the innings as Roy fell to Usman Qadir on 64. However, the English team managed to cross the line with just two balls remaining.

Roy and Butler stitched together a partnership of 63 runs before the latter was caught at long-on by Babar Azam. Meanwhile, Roy continued his fluent hitting after being joined by David Malan until he was caught by Fakhar Zaman. After Roy’s dismissal, England fumbled a little bit as Bairstow(5) and Moen Ali(1) fell cheaply. However captain Eoin Morgan hit two sixes and a four to get the momentum back in England’s favour before getting out to Hasan Ali. Liam Livingstone hit a ferocious six from the first ball he faced before getting dismissed in the second ball. However in the end Chris Jordan and David Willey dragged England to victory in the final over.

Earlier, Pakistan lost captain Babar to Adil Rashid in the fifth over and then the leg spinner bagged two quick wickets to dismiss Shohaib Maqsood and Mohammed Hafeez in the eighth over. His fourth wicket came in the 17th over when Shadab Khan skied a shot to the leg side and was caught by Livingstone to complete his stint with figures of 4-35. Moen Ali had Fakhar(24) out lbw on review before Imad Wasim was run out by Bairstow as he was slow between the wickets.
