Former Australian cricketer and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) assistant coach Michael Hussey, who had tested positive for the coronavirus on Tuesday, has now returned a negative result. A second negative test within the weekend would clear him of isolation. Hussey will then join the rest of the home-bound Australian contingent that are currently in the Maldives.

Hussey tested positive earlier this week. He is the first member of a foreign contingent involved with the IPL to get infected.

“I am extremely conscious of what is going on in India. I feel very fortunate to be so well looked after by the franchise. Currently, I am resting in isolation at the moment. Hopefully, I will get another negative test,” the CSK assistant coach told NewsCorp.

Seifert Tests Positive

Now, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) batsman Tim Seifert has also contracted the COVID-19 virus. The Kiwi player has stayed back in India after testing positive.

“He will be treated in the same private hospital in which former Australia player Michael Hussey has been staying,” a statement from New Zealand Cricket (NZC) read.

“Once Seifert has undergone treatment and the statutory period of isolation, he will be transferred back to New Zealand. There, he will undergo the mandatory 14-day period of managed isolation.”

According to the statement, Seifert will be isolating and treated at the same medical facility in Chennai as Hussey.
