On Monday, 31st of October. The 19-year-old Dewald Brevis became the talk of the cricket town as he smacked 162 of just 57 balls in the 25th match of the CSA T20 Challenge 2022-2023. His flamboyance and fearlessness earned him the tag of ‘Baby AB’, as he emulated the abilities of his idol and countryman, AB de Villiers. Brevis was first noticed in January this year in the ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup, where he impressed one and all with his all-round abilities.

The mammoth knock of 162 (57) came against the Knights in the CSA T20 Challenge, which included 13 boundaries and 13 maximums. Brevis hammered the Knights’ bowling all around the park and left them baffled, scoring at a strike rate of 284.21, he took his team to a humongous total of 271 runs in their 20 overs. Brevis went to his 100 off just 35 balls to claim the record for the fastest-ever domestic T20 century, this was also the fifth-fastest T20 century of all time and the third-highest score in the shortest form of the game.
