Sri Lankan pacer Isuru Udana believes that the new-look ODI squad will face a stern challenge away from home against Bangladesh. The visitors have opted to bench several experienced players, with the hosts enjoying the presence of Shakib al Hasan who is making a comeback. The all-rounder was most recently seen in action during the suspended 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Udana hailed the presence of a few “superstars” in the Bangladesh team.

“To be honest, Bangladesh has a few superstars in their team (and expected to be carrying the load of expectations) while we have a young side and we have nothing to lose. We are here to beat them, so we want to give our best to beat those guys, because in their home, they are very dangerous and we know that,” said Udana while interacting with reporters at the BCB academy premises as quoted by Cricbuzz.

“Quite used to bio-bubble life”

The left-arm pacer believes that the humid conditions in Dhaka will not have an impact on the visitors, who are better prepared than the hosts themselves.

“I don’t think so (the heat and humidity will be a concern) because in Sri Lanka, it’s hotter than this. We’re quite used to the bio-bubble life now. Doing forward, we have to stick to those plans, so I think we are ready because we had a five-six day training camp in Colombo. We also had two good sessions here, so I think all the guys are ready,” said Udana.

The 33-year-old expressed his viewpoint that every player should look to take responsibility.

“About the selection, we can’t control those things; we are here to give our best, which we have. In this game, we all have to take responsibility, because, I can be an experienced bowler, but on a particular day, a young guy can do better than me. So I think we all have to stick together and portray our experiences,” he concluded.

The three-match ODI series will be live-streamed on FanCode. The first game will take place on 23rd May, followed by the remaining two clashes being held on 25th May and 28th May.
