The first Test between Australia and the West Indies will begin on November 30th at the Optus Stadium in Perth. The West Indies last won a Test match on these shores in 1997, at the WACA in Perth. The West Indies last defeated Australia in a Test match in 2003, when they pursued a world record 418 in Antigua.

Few give West Indies a chance in this series, and it would be surprising if Australia doesn’t win it 2-0, yet their Test cricket has improved, even if primarily at home. But revivals need to begin somewhere. Even while it may sound defeatist, if they can win even 1 game of these two games, it might give them more foundational pieces for the future. Their pace battery might cause problems for the Aussie batters at the Optus stadium with the likes of Roach and Seales in fine form.

Australia is in a good position in the format, as evidenced by the XI being completely predictable, despite the fact that they lost their most recent Test, which was played against Sri Lanka in Galle. They are in a great position to get to the World Test Championship final but watch out for those overrates. A successful summer will also help their cause.
