It has been mutually agreed upon by the Pakistan Cricket Board and New Zealand Cricket to forward the visit of the New Zealand men’s side to Pakistan by one day. The two-match series’ first Test will now begin on December 26 at the National Bank Cricket Arena in Karachi, and the second will start on January 3 in Multan. The three ODIs will take place in Karachi on January 10, 12, and 14. It caused a lot of controversies when New Zealand withdrew from the series against Pakistan on the day of the match last year, and PCB Chairman Ramiz Raza criticised New Zealand Cricket (NZC) for the damage it caused to Pakistan cricket.

Later on, though, New Zealand and Pakistan reached a deal to make up for the withdrawal by paying an unknown sum to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and agreeing to play additional matches. When England followed suit, it was the final straw for Pakistan’s efforts to bring full-fledged international cricket back home after New Zealand withdrew for security grounds. However, they have been successful in hosting both teams, together with Australia, in 2022.
