Uruguay vs Colombia will go head to head in American Championship on September 2, i.e on Friday. In conjunction with the announcement of the American Athletic Conference’s 2022–23 SAAC Executive Board, Sion James of the Tulane men’s basketball team has been selected as the committee’s chair. James will also represent The American in the NCAA Division I SAAC, which answers directly to the NCAA Division I Council, starting in 2022–2023 when he begins his junior year at Tulane. James is the first men’s basketball player from Tulane and the first student-athlete from the school to represent The American at the national level. He is one of only 32 student-athletes on the NCAA Division I SAAC.
Vivian Ponn, a softball player at South Florida, will hold the position of Vice Chair for The American’s SAAC. The 2022–23 SAAC Executive Committee will also include two student-athletes from Temple, Kiran Kaishankar, a track and field star from Memphis, who will serve as Coordinator of Community Engagement, and Houston’s Anna Economon, a golf student-athlete who will be Coordinator of Student-Athlete and Alumni Engagement.

Wisdom Quarshie will be the coordinator of diversity and inclusion, while field hockey player Emma Nesbit will be the coordinator of public relations. The American Student-Athlete Advisory Committee acts as the voice of the conference’s 12 member universities’ student-athletes. The goal of the SAAC conference is to strengthen communication between the schools and for all student-athletes at each member school. SAAC encourages student-athlete well-being, academic success, personal growth, and community involvement. It also actively participates in studying NCAA and American Athletic Conference laws and offering input.
