Meralco Bolts vs San Miguel Beermen PBA Playoffs game will be held on August 12. With a commanding 111-97 victory against San Miguel Beermen on Wednesday, Meralco Bolts tied their best-of-seven semifinal series for the 2022 PBA Philippine Cup. There haven’t been any close games in this series, and Game 4 was no exception. The Beermen attempted a comeback in the second quarter, but the Bolts held them off to secure the victory and force a best-of-three series with Game 5 on Friday. The Bolts dominated from beginning to end, grabbing a 36-23 advantage after one quarter.
June Mar Fajardo, a center for San Miguel, was once more the focus of Meralco’s defense. Many Bolts big men took turns attempting to restrict the six-time MVP, but he still managed to escape and finish with 21 points and 13 rebounds. Fajardo only attempted nine shots, but he made 11 of 13 free throws because the Meralco front line frequently had no choice but to foul him (overall Meralco was whistled for 40 fouls which led to 46 San Miguel free throws). In addition to Fajardo, other starters CJ Perez (24 points) and Marcio Lassiter (23) also contributed significantly to SMB’s success. However, Jericho Cruz, Mo Tautuaa, Simon Enciso, and Robbie Herndon combined for just three points on a dismal 1-of-15 from the field, resulting in the Beermen receiving just 20 points from their bench. It took a team effort, according to Bolts center Raymond Almazan, who finished with 17 points on only eight attempts, to try to stop Fajardo.
