The Cleveland Cavaliers selected Travers with the 56th overall choice in the June draft, and over the past two weeks, he has put up remarkable numbers in the NBA Summer League. He received high accolades for his efforts during the competition and is expected to play a significant role on the Perth team as they attempt to return to the finals. Luke is under contract with us. He’s returning. Danny Mills, the Wildcats’ general manager of basketball operations, informed The West Australian that it was finished.
They drafted him primarily with the intention of stashing him and keeping him here. The Wildcats will have Luke Travers for the next season. He exuded confidence (during Summer League), and the most exciting development for us is that he can now bring Perth the experience and exposure he’s gained over the last three months to a different basketball scene. We’re quite thrilled. In 27 games last year, Travers averaged eight points and five rebounds for the Wildcats.
