Austin Toros Spurs will take on the Delaware Blue Coats in the NBA G matchup on Friday night. The San Antonio Spurs continue to solidify their presence in the South and Central Texas region. On Thursday morning, the Austin Spurs announced that the Cedars will play their home game away from his H-E-B center at his park on December 11, 2022. The G League team travels to Laredo to host the Mexico City Capitans at the Sames Auto Arena. Outside of Austin, this game is in line with what his San Antonio team is doing this year, playing home games in Austin and Mexico City.
According to the announcement, it will be the second time that “Silver and Black” will be performed in Laredo. The previous contest was a preseason game between the Houston Rockets of San Antonio and Laredo, which they won 79–69. The December game will be the first time a G League affiliate will host a home game in the city. It will be an important competition as we will compete for the right to participate in the second round of the Showcase Cup. The Austin Spurs are a G League affiliate of the San Antonio Spurs. Until 2014, the team was known as the Austin Toros before adopting the name of their parent club. In 2017, the G League was rebranded from the D League as part of the organization’s relationship with Gatorade. Austin continues to function effectively as a development/reconnaissance site, as it has for the last decade.

Some great San Antonio natives have played for the Austin Toros/Spurs, including Cory Joseph, Kyle Anderson, Dejounte Murray, and Derrick White. In fact, every draft pick since 2018 has played for Austin, with the exception of Devin Vassell. The franchise has won the league title twice, from 2011 with the Toros in 2012 and 2017 with the Spurs in 2018.
