On Friday night, the Chicago Sky defeated the Wings 89-83 thanks to Kahleah Copper’s 19 points and Julie Allemand’s 11 of her season-high 13 points in the fourth quarter. For Chicago (21-6), which has won six in a row, Candace Parker finished with 14 points, 10 rebounds, and three steals. A season-high nine assists, three blocks, and 13 points from Emma Meesseman were also contributed, while Allie Quigley scored 10. Late in the first half, the Wings were behind by 14, but they scored six straight baskets in the fourth quarter to grab their first lead of the game when Tyasha Harris made a floater with 6:57 left.
About a minute later, Allemand countered with a three-point play to put Chicago back in the lead, but with four minutes left, Arike Ogunbowale hit a 3-pointer to give Dallas an 80-79 advantage. With 3:01 left, Meesseman assisted Allemand on a 3-pointer and a layup, giving the Sky the lead permanently. Ogunbowale made another three-pointer to bring the score to 84-83 for the Wings, but Parker scored inside and Allemand converted 3 of 4 free throw attempts in the final 90 seconds to secure the victory. Ogunbowale scored 28 points in total. For Dallas (11-15), Teaira McCowan contributed 15 points, Isabelle Harrison scored 18 on 8 of 10 shots, and Kayla Thornton added 11.
