Imortal will take on Sporting CP in the LPB Portugal on November 16 at Pavilhão Desportivo de Albufeira (Albufeira). At the Drago Arena in Porto, Benfica defeated FC Porto today in the third round of the Portuguese Basketball League by a score of 112-105 after extra time. The first derby of the season between the two rivals lived up to the hopes of those who anticipated a heated and competitive game right up until the finish, as it ended in a tie (89-89) in the regular period and went the red side in the five minutes of extra time that followed. First-half dominance by Benfica and its American base Aaron Broussard resulted in a 39-49 lead for the Lisboners at the interval, partly as a result of their highly effective offensive strategy.
Broussard started his team off with seven points and finished with 32 points overall, nine of which came from three-pointers, and made all five of his free throw attempts. After scoring 49 points in the first half, Benfica slowed down in the second half and FC Porto gained ground thanks to a lot of heart and triples from Miguel Maria and Francisco Amarante. As a result, the game that appeared lost at halftime was turned around. The defending champions even held a lead (58-64) at the end of the third session, but at that point, FC Porto was gaining momentum and exuding confidence, while Benfica had lost focus and was experiencing issues with its travel game.

The scoreboard gap decreased as Drago Arena cheered for Porto’s comeback, but the ‘dragons’ quickly took the lead as Miguel Maria hit a three-pointer to make it 83-79. Benfica was in trouble and emotions were running high, but Broussard made a strong comeback and reduced the score (83-81), which was followed by a nerve-wracking game. While Broussard added another triple to his personal tally, Max Landis made two free throws.
