Portugal made a spirited effort, but France prevented Portugal from winning all four of its Group E games by defeating them all. France was able to confirm its place in the second round, making them the first team in the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 European Qualifiers to do so. After defeating Portugal by 38 points in France, Les Bleus found themselves in a very different situation abroad. The French had to perform some amazing exploits to get the score to 69-56 in the fourth quarter. Before being dealt, first, to the Portland Trail Blazers and then to the Spurs as part of trade deadline deals, the 30-year-old guard began the 2021–22 season with the New Orleans Pelicans.

Current Form

When they play Lithuania on July 4 in Klaipeda and Bosnia and Herzegovina on July 1 in Pardubice (CZE), the squad will rely on Tomas Satoransky, their biggest basketball talent (LTU). The team will be without Aliz Verga, the Turkish League champion. With one victory and three losses, the Czech national team is now bottom (fourth) in Group F. For them, the FIBA window will be a matter of life or death because just three clubs will move on to the next round. Satoransky just completed a difficult NBA season in Washington. A contract buyout with the San Antonio Spurs was first reached.

Anticipated Winner

It is crucial to keep in mind that Montenegro gave their heavily-favored hosts a huge fright in their previous encounter, the opener of this group stage, in Pau, when they led by seven points after three quarters before falling 73-67 after a horrific fourth. On home soil and with more at stake than France, expect Montenegro to be at least somewhat competitive on Friday. The Czech Republic and Hungary will both compete in the final Window. Both of them still depend on themselves and will strive for a 2-0 record because the outcomes of the First Round are carried over to the Second Round.
