Czech Republic will take on Belgium in the FIBA U-20 FIBA Women’s European Championship on July 12. At the FIBA U20 Women’s European Championship in Sopron, the Group Phase is now in the books, which means the schedule for the crucial Round of 16 stages is now known. Since Spain, Italy, and the Czech Republic have yet to lose in Sopron, three teams advance to the next round with perfect records. After defeating the Netherlands 78-48, the Czech team won Group A’s top place. Valentyna Kadlecova led her team with 15 points. The major news, however, was that the victorious host country defeated France once more in Group A, this time by a score of 80–64. Julia Boros scored a game-high 21 points for Hungary in the last round as they defeated France, which had a staggering 27 turnovers.

Italy won all three of their games in Group B, going 3-0 after another quick start. This time, they jumped out in front of Belgium and outran them 67-35. 24 points were shared by Sara Ronchi and Vittoria Allievi. Sweden defeated neighboring Finland 71-55 to secure second place. Diana Collins, who had 16 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists, stole the show. Spain continues to dominate Group C, defeating Poland’s second-place team 77-67. With 16 points each, Laia Lamana and Elena Buenavida stood out. Gedvile Savostaite and Sintija Aukstikalnyte each scored 17 points as Lithuania defeated the now 0-3 Bulgaria 72-52 to get off to a winning start.

Serbia defeated Portugal 55-50 in a nail-biting overtime match, although Portugal nevertheless won Group D in a three-way tie. Portugal’s incredible four-point play forced overtime, but Serbia prevailed because of the enormous 16 rebounds Jovana Boricic grabbed. Marta Leimane and Enija Kivite combined for 34 points as Latvia defeated Ireland 85-45 to escape finishing last.
