Priyanshu Rajawat's ranking soars after historic win at Orleans Masters 2023

In the most recent BWF rankings released on Tuesday, India’s Priyanshu Rajawat rose 20 spots to a career-high world ranking of 38 thanks to his title-winning performance at the Orleans Masters Super 300 tournament. After defeating Magnus Johannsen of Denmark 21-15, 19-21, and 21-16 in the championship match, the 21-year-old from Madhya Pradesh won his first Super 300 championship and gained some important ranking points. With 30,786 points, he is currently ranked fourth among Indian men’s singles players.

Lakshya Sen, the winner of the Commonwealth Games, moved up to 24th while taking a break, and Kidambi Srikanth dropped two spots to become the No. 1 athlete in the world. 23. At No. 1, HS Prannoy is still regarded as the top male singles player. 8. PV Sindhu, who had advanced to the Spain Masters final, fell two positions to No. 192 in the women’s singles. Saina Nehwal moved up to world No. 11 while ranking No. 11 once more. 31. Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty, the top-ranked men’s doubles team, didn’t change. 6, then MR Arjun and Dhruv Kapila at position 27, respectively. Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand, the No. 1 women’s doubles team in the world, dropped a spot. 20 and 29th in the world, respectively, are the mixed doubles team of Tanisha and Ishaan Bhatnagar.

Priyanshu Rajawat in Orleans Master 2023

Priyanshu Rajawat of India defeated Magnus Johannesen of Denmark in the final of the Orleans Master 2023 on Sunday to win his first-ever tour championship. Rajawat, age 21, is ranked as world No. 38. In a thrilling men’s singles match that lasted an hour and eight minutes, defeated Dane by 21-15, 19-21, and 21-16. Rajawat, who was also the youngest player on the Indian badminton team that won the historic 2022 Thomas Cup in Bangkok last year, is winning his first BWF Super 300 title.

Rajawat dominated the opening game of the final, denying Johannesen, who is ranked 49th in badminton, any chance to mount a comeback. At the halfway point of the first game, the Indian badminton player had an advantage of 11-8 and capitalized on it to win the match. Even though Priyanshu made a strong comeback (17-17) and lost the second game. Rajawat went on to win the third game, the match, and the championship. The second game started closely with Magnus maintaining the lead.
