India secured their second ever medal at the World Championships after Olympian champion Neeraj Chopra won the silver medal in the men's javelin final in Oregon.
The World Athletics Championships concluded on 24th July with hosts United States winning 28 medals, with an impressive 10 Golds. India also secured the country’s second podium finish after Anju Bobby George’s historic win in Paris back in 2003. Olympic champion Neeraj Chopra finished with a historic silver in the Javelin event, with compatriot Rohit Yadav also reaching the finals finishing 10th.
Eldhose Paul scripted history by reaching the triple jump final, while Murali Sreeshankar finished seventh in the men’s long jump final. Avinash Sable had a tough outing finishing off the Top 10. With a strong 22-man team participating in Oregon, the Indian contingent will be elated to return home with silverware as Neeraj Chopra continues his scintillating form.
