Faith Chepngetich Kipyegon was born on 10 January 1994. She is a 1500-meter expert in middle-distance running from Kenya. She is only the second woman to win back-to-back Olympic titles in the 1500 m, and she holds the record for consecutive Olympic victories with two back-to-back victories. Faith is also a two-time world champion and a two-time Olympic champion. The first woman in history to break the 3:50 barrier in the discipline, Kipyegon also holds two world silver medals and the record for the distance with a time of 3:49.11, set on June 2, 2023, in Florence. At the Meeting de Paris, she broke the 5000-meter world record in just one week, finishing in 14:05.20. She is regarded as the greatest female 1500-meter runner in history and has won or placed second in every major championship on the track since 2015.

At the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro in 2016 and Tokyo in 2020, Kipyegon won two gold medals, along with world championships in 2017 and 2022. Both in 2015, when she came in second place to multiple world record holder Genzebe Dibaba, and in 2019, when she competed again after giving birth the year before, she won silver medals for the world. She is one of only five athletes who have dominated at every world age-group level in their chosen track and field discipline (under-18, U20, and senior level) and broken a senior world record. She currently owns two of the three fastest female 1500m times in history.

At the World U20 Championships in 2012 and 2011, Kipyegon took first place in her specialty event. Although she won the junior races at the 2011 and 2013 World Cross Country Championships and placed fifth at the 2013 World Championships, she did not make it past the quarterfinals of the 2012 London Olympics when she was 18 years old. She won three Diamond League titles and was the Commonwealth Games champion in 2014.  In 2017, the New African magazine listed Kipyegon as one of the Top 100 most influential Africans.
