At the 2007 World Youth Athletics Championships, Christian Taylor won the triple jump event and the long jump bronze medal. At the University of Florida, where he won back-to-back NCAA Indoor Championships and then consecutive NCAA Outdoor Championship titles in 2010 and 2011. He made a name for himself as a top-tier triple jumper. Taylor’s first USA Outdoor National championship came in 2011.
Upsetting the field with the tenth-best jump in history to win the triple jump at the 2011 World Championships after winning his national championship. In the triple jump, he took home the gold medal at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. He was a member of the American Olympic team in 2012. At the 2013 World Athletics Championships, he finished fourth, but at the 2015 World Athletics Championships, he won it back. With a jump of 17.86 meters, he won the gold medal in the triple jump at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. Taylor won the triple jump event at the 2017 World Championships in Athletics. With a leap of 17.68 meters, storming to victory once more. Taylor won his fourth world title in the triple jump by marking a 17.92m jump at the 2019 World Championships in Doha as the defending champion.
He also competes in the 400-meter dash, where his best time is 45.07 seconds, and the 200-meter dash, where he has run 20.70 seconds, with a best distance of 8.19 meters (26 ft 10+1⁄4 in) in the long jump.
