Andre De Grasse is a Canadian sprinter represents Canada in international events. His winning time of 19:73 seconds set a new Canadian record. On August 4, he competed in the 200-meter final against fellow Canuck Aaron Brown, Jereem Richards of Trinidad and Tobago, Rasheed Dwyer of Jamaica, and runners from the United States Noah Lyles, Erriyon Knighton, Kenny Bednarek, and Joseph Fahnbulleh.
The Olympics in Tokyo marked De Grasse’s second appearance. When he competed in the Rio Olympics in 2016 and took home two medals, he was 21 years old. He was the youngest runner on the field and didn’t look like much as he was surrounded by athletic men flexing their muscles. He shares a good friendship bond with fellow competitor Usain Bolt, he was the athlete that year that people most often remembered. The other runners were simply making a valiant effort to catch up as they grinned at each other as they crossed the finish line. Everyone had a smile on their face when the images and videos from the aforementioned race went viral online.
Andre De Grasse, 28 years old, only began competing seriously in track at the age of 17 after his coach Tony Sharp saw greatness in him during a high school competition. He ran wearing borrowed running spikes and baggy basketball shorts, but his commitment to the sport earned him a scholarship, and the rest is history. Grasse made Olympic history by becoming the first Canadian to win medals in all three sprint events at the Rio Games. Following his Olympic experience, he received the Lionel Conacher Award and was named Canada’s Male Athlete of the Year.

Andre De Grasse is married. In a private ceremony, he got married to his longtime love, Nia Ali, in the presence of their loved ones.
