American athlete Fred Kerley began his career as a 200-meter runner in high school before becoming famous for his 400-meter victories at the NCAA championships both indoors and outdoors in 2017. He only started racing the 400m in college after winning the indoor and outdoor NCAA titles. Following the silver he won in 2017 in London, he added the gold in the 400m relay and the bronze in the 400m in the 2019 World Championships in Doha. In March 2022, he began his season in Grenada and did so in an astounding 44.47 seconds. He was the first man to win 100 meter, 200 meter, and 400 meter Diamond League races in 2021. He unexpectedly won a silver medal in the 100-meter race at Tokyo 2020, finishing behind Italy’s Marcell Jacobs and in front of Canada’s Andre De Grasse, who won the bronze.

Fred was born on May 7, 1995, in Taylor, Texas. Taylor High School, South Plains College, and Texas A&M University were all places which he attended for his education. Fred was a gifted athlete in high school, excelling in football, basketball, and athletics. In addition, Fred is from a sportingly accomplished family. Mylik, his younger brother, is a world-class 400-meter runner, and Virginia, his younger sister, appears poised to continue the family tradition. Demarea, his older brother, participated in high school sprint and jump competitions. Football player and New York Jets wide receiver Jeremy Kerley is Fred’s cousin.

Kerley grew up in the same house as 12 other cousins – his other uncle’s children, who were also nurtured by aunt Virginia alongside her own children. On his arm, he has a tattoo of his aunt’s name. The Virgin Mary, rosary beads, a bouquet of roses, a sparrow on his chest, angel wings, praying hands, a cross, and even the phrase, Blessed, are among the many tattoos he has. He got his first tattoo when he was just twelve years old. His tattoo preferences reflect to his strong Christian beliefs.
