Faith Kipyegon is a Kenyan 1500m middle-distance runner specialist. She is just the second woman to ever win back-to-back Olympic titles in the 1500 m, and the first woman to ever win four global titles in the event. Kipyegon was the first person in history to break the 3:50 barrier and holds the world record for the distance with a time of 3:49.11, set on June 2, 2023, in Florence. Her older sister, Beatrice Mutai, is an expert at the 10km and half marathon distances, and her father, Samuel Koech, was a 400m and 800m runner in his teens. Up until the age of 14, when she started participating in school athletics, Faith played football. She started a one-kilometer run in a physical education class and won by 20 meters. The single mother attended Keringet Winners Girls High School in Kuresoi, Nakuru County. The establishment was made possible by Dutch philanthropist Piet de Peut. The institution’s goal was to identify and nurture talent while also creating an environment that was conducive to learning. The Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE), which Kipyegon completed in 2015, was issued.
