The Honolulu Marathon 2022 is scheduled to be held on December 11, 2022 at Honolulu, Hawaii in the United States of America. It was first conducted in Honolulu, Hawaii, in 1973. Every year on the second Sunday in December, the city hosts one of the biggest marathons in the world. The 40th Honolulu Marathon, held in 2012, drew 30,898 participants, making it the second-largest marathon in the United States that year, trailing only the Chicago Marathon.
The Honolulu Marathon increased in size every year from 1973 through 1978, a rate that has only been matched once. As the event evolved, it attracted major corporate sponsors and offered substantial cash prizes to the winners. With 34,434 participants and 27,022 finishers in 1995, the Honolulu Marathon held the title of the largest marathon in the world. In recent years, the most of entrants have been Japanese visitors. Japan accounted for 14,406 of the 23,231 entries in 2008, or about 62.0 percent of the total. At the marathon expo at the Hawaii Convention Center, the field for the 40th Honolulu Marathon reached 30,898 participants, out of which 16,067 of the participants who had signed up were from Japan.

The Honolulu Marathon 2022 is scheduled to take place on December 11, 2022, at 5:00 am.
The race course begins close to Ala Moana Beach Park across from Ala Moana Center, moves west along the waterfront toward downtown Honolulu. It then loops through the city and bends back east through Waikiki, around Diamond Head, and out toward the city’s eastern suburbs, wrapping through Hawaii Kai before looping back toward the finish line at Waikiki’s Kapiolani Park. Because of the tropical weather, with temperatures starting around 65 °F (18 °C) and climbing as high as 80 °F (27 °C) and a relatively mountainous track compared to other marathons, runners consider the course to be fairly challenging. But the event is still popular among those running their first marathon.
