The European Championships 2022 is scheduled to commence from August 11 to August 21 in Munich, Germany. This will be the second edition of the event which is set to begin three days after the Commonwealth Games 2022. This is being held to commemorate the 50th edition of the Summer Olympics 1972. A total number of 177 gold medals will be given across nine sports disciplines.
The new sporting events which have been added to this year are Beach Volleyball, Canoe sprint, para-events, Sport Climbing, and Table Tennis. However, sports that made their debut like Athletics, cycling, triathlon, artistic gymnastics, and rowing will be present.
European Broadcasting Union Members will broadcast 111 hours of European Championships Munich 2022 action live on TV, along with nearly 300 hours of digital live streaming on sportschau.de. BBC TV, radio, and online will provide coverage of the championships starting from August 12. It will be broadcast on Red Button, BBC Two, and BBC One. There will be comprehensive streaming on the BBC Sport website and BBC iPlayer. BBC Radio 5 Live will stream the finals of the Athletics to be held in Munich. In Sweden, the primary TV channels like SVT1 and SV2 will carry over 100 hours of the broadcast of the championships. This covers a minimum of 10 hours per day starting on August 15 when the athletics calendar kicks off.
