The Commonwealth Games 2022, popularly known as the Birmingham 2022 is a multi-sport tournament, commencing from July 28 to August 8, 2022. Athletes from Commonwealth nations will be participating in 280 events across 20 sports disciplines. More than 5000 athletes from 72 nations are participating in this edition of the CWG. Adam Peaty, Andre de Grasse, PV Sindhu, Katarina Johnson-Thomson, and Paul Coll are some athletes to watch out for at the quadrennial event. Australia is the current leader of the CWG in the overall medal table with 2415 medals, followed by England (2144) and Canada (1555).

India currently stands at the fourth position with a total of 503 medals with 181 Gold, 173 Silver, and 149 Bronze. India secured a third-place finish at the Commonwealth Games 2018 winning 66 medals in total (26 Gold, 20 Silver, and 20 Bronze). The most successful campaign for India was the Commonwealth Games 2010 in which they hosted the games and finished second in the medal table with 38 Gold, 27 Silver, and 36 Bronze medals. The nation has achieved the most medals in Shooting (135). Weightlifting (125) and Wrestling (102) remain at the second and third spots.
